The Orangery at Hortus

The 18th-century, monumental Orangery is a beautiful location located near the canals of Leiden. Its attractive architecture and flexible design make it particularly suitable for weddings.
The space is divided into a large left and right-wing with a reception hall in the middle. In the lobby, you will find the fixed bar and a large gift table. There are various seating areas and standing tables both outside and inside. The setup for the ceremony consists of a table for the speaker, chairs or a bench for the wedding couple and up to 100 chairs for the guests. We can hire additional furniture through external suppliers for festive dinners such as round or long tables with white linen.

And not only is the environment of this wedding location beautiful, you have your own private space in the Orangery at the Hortus, which will only be opened for your wedding.
There are many options for wedding photo locations. You can take beautiful wedding photos in the Hortus itself. The plants, water and the University of Leiden provides a magical environment that provide for some amazing backdrops for the photos.
But it's also no problem to take photos in the centre of Leiden. With a short walk through the city we can already capture a good series of wedding photos and thanks to the compactness of the city centre there will also be a lot of variation in the images. From the canals, old buildings and streets to the Hooglandse Kerk and Molen de Put, the centre of Leiden has a lot to offer and is easy to reach thanks to the central location of the Hortus.

The Hortus botanicus Leiden is an official wedding location – in the middle of the greenery and in the historic centre of Leiden you can get married in the monumental 18th-century Orangerie.

Arrival, ceremony, toast moment and reception

The Hortus botanicus Leiden is an official wedding location. Half an hour before the ceremony you can receive your guests on the terrace or in the middle part of the Orangery. For the ceremony, you can choose two configurations: a theater set-up with a walkway in the middle towards the altar or an intimate semicircle with a view to the windows of the Orangery.

A dinner inside or outside

Whether you want a luxurious dinner for family and friends or a buffet for all your guests, it is all possible. With festively set round or long tables, the Orangery can be transformed into an atmospheric Michelin-star restaurant. After 6 p.m. the Hortus is completely private and a wonderful place to have dinner outside.

End with a huge party!

Would you like to end the evening festively? The right-wing of the Orangery is perfectly suitable for an amazing party. A professional sound system is available, with which you can play your own music. Hiring a DJ or a band is also an option.
