I am from Haarlem myself and I love the sea a lot. That is why I was immediately thrilled when Sandra and Jeroen asked if I wanted to document their wedding. They had big plans for a beach wedding by the sea in Zandvoort.
The preparations in Haarlem went very smooth and before we knew it we were in the middle of the dunes to make a number of beautiful wedding portraits. Very bad weather had been predicted, but with a little luck, beautiful typical Dutch clouds suddenly appeared. Of course, I like to use them to my advantage with my ultra-wide angle lens.
The ceremony at Beachclub No. 5 was windy but amazing. In the background the sky was filled with kites from the kite surfers on the beach who made good use of the strong Dutch wind. A firmly attached veil was necessary to prevent the wind from taking a stroll with it.
To prevent the cake from being breaded by the beach sand, the cake was cut inside and a followed up by a toast to celebrate the newly weds. The BBQ followed, the weather started to change and shortly after dinner all of a sudden there was an amazing opportunity to shoot a few portraits. I saw that the weather gods gave us an extra chance to take some really cool pictures on the beach with the sunset and a huge storm and rain in the background.
The party was awesome, as a party should be. Good speeches always get a smile on the crowds faces and of course the dance floor didn't remain empty for long once the music started playing.
