Suzanne and Charles are getting married this weekend at the beautiful Camp Del Saltre, a beautiful chateau by the River Lot in the South of France. The wedding takes several days and I am present from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning to really capture the full story of this wedding weekend.
On Friday afternoon I arrive to capture the beginning of this beautiful weekend. Most guests arrive today and it's a day to settle in and prepare for the wedding scheduled for tomorrow. It is already very nice when I arrive, people are swimming in the pool, playing games and there is even a wine tasting planned for the guests.
The day ends with an extensive pizza dinner where guests of the wedding also have the opportunity to share some nice words with the wedding couple.
A nice detail of this wedding; An empty canvas has been set up for everyone to paint on that weekend so that Suzanne and Charles will soon have a piece of art as a memory of their wedding that was made by their own guests.
The next day starts quietly with a delicious French breakfast. After breakfast, there is more than enough time to relax by the pool and read a book, but after a few hours of enjoying this peace, it is time to get ready for the ceremony. Suzanne and Charles are getting ready separately. Suzanne is assisted by her mother and Charles by his friends.
And then the moment is finally there; The ceremony. Fortunately in the shade, because it is very hot, but surrounded by beautiful vineyards that provide a wonderful French atmosphere. In the end, after a passionate kiss, this couple is finally married and there is very briefly an opportunity for congratulations and a toast.
After this short reception, I go out with the wedding couple to take photos in the area. Having already scouted the area before the wedding, it doesn't take long before we get to some beautiful locations to capture wedding portraits. A number of photos at the bridge over the Lot can of course not be missed.
When they return, the painting is now finished and it is time for dinner. During dinner, some nice words are shared and Charles and his student friends cannot resist singing their student's club song at the top of their lungs.
After dinner, we found time to make some wedding portraits between the vineyards. And although we weren't thrilled about the little bit of rain that was predicted, it turned out to be very good because of a beautiful rainbow that formed over the vineyards.
We end this wonderful day with a smashing party at Camp Del Saltre
Day 3 has arrived, the day of departure.
I got up extra early that morning to prepare a surprise for the wedding couple. When everyone has finished breakfast, I call Suzanne and Charles and all the guests together and tell them that I have already prepared a preview that we will immediately view in one of the cottages.
With Con te partirò by Andrea Bocelli playing in the background, everyone is enjoying the preview immensely and I can see that the bride can't hold back the tears while looking at the photos. This is about the biggest compliment you can give a photographer!
Suzanne and Charles, what a wonderful wedding weekend in the South of France it was. Thanks for letting me be a part of this!
